Five high-level IT-BPO executives, the chairman and CCO of the agency that created the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” brand visibility campaign, and a top Philippine government official confirmed their participation in IOS 2012 in recent days.
David Guerrero is chairman and CCO (chief creative officer) of BBDO Guerrero, the agency that developed the widely acclaimed “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” country brand visibility campaign launched earlier this year. The campaign was launched virally, and spread rapidly around the world. It leveraged crowdsourcing techniques to generate new applications of the tagline that are relevant, meaningful, and impactful to target markets.
Discussing the topic, “Outsourcing is More Fun in the Philippines: Aligning country and industry brand,” Guerrero and other panelists will discuss how the innovative campaign can generate visibility for IT-BPO in the Philippines, particularly among prospective employees. One of the challenges of the industry is helping the workforce understand that IT-BPO is rapidly evolving to include a wide range of non-voice, complex services that present wonderful career opportunities for people who want the experience of “working abroad” and the convenience of living in the Philippines.
Two executives from Aegis–Anil Modi, Global Chief Marketing Officer and President of Aegis Limited; and, Rajiv Ahuja, President, Aegis ASENA & ANZ–will participate in panels addressing growth strategy and dependence on the US market. “Strategizing for High Growth: Moving up the Value Chain” offers the opportunity to consider alternatives for managed growth and expansion to higher value added services for maturing outsourcing centers. A seasoned strategic manager, Mr. Modi will help lead that discussion.
Mr. Ahuja’s focus will be “Diversification Strategy: How do IT-BPO companies wean themselves from dependence on the US market?” For years industry executives and analysts have warned that the industry is overly reliant on the US market, and that it should balance global portfolios with work elsewhere, especially the EU. But with the EU still suffering from a massive financial hangover, how realistic is that idea? Especially when demand for outsourcing services is growing exponentially in the US?
Because labor supply is naturally at the core of industry success and its capacity for sustained development, any discussion of HR development strategy is always well attended. Shridhar Aiyer, Vice President for Human Resource at Sutherland Global Services, will share his perspectives on preparing future workforces for work in the industry. He has a sound platform from which to do so. Sutherland is one of the fastest growing IT-BPOs in the world, and in the Philippines.
The IT-BPO industry doesn’t expect governments to lead its developments, but it does expect their support. Louis Casambre, executive director of the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology’s Information and Communications Technology Office will outline how his department is mapping out the steps to transform the Philippines into a “digitally empowered, innovative, and globally competitive nation.” It’s a bold and ambitious plan, and we can’t wait to hear the details.
The synergy is building. If you haven’t yet registered for IOS 2012, please do so today. Early bird rates are available for a short time only. Online registration is available on the IOS 2012 website.

Outsourcing is also an important tool in promoting tourism in Philippines. Because of outsourcing, skills and experiences of Filipino employees will be valued by their clients overseas. If pleased by their performances, they will be more engaged in Philippines. And they will exclaim that “Indeed! It’s really more fun in the Philippines!”
